The refuge is located at AlpeVaudet in themunicipality of Valgrisenche. Located at an altitude of 2,284mA.S.L., itsconstruction began in 1925 to function as mountaineering and military support, thenin 1927 the building was dedicated by the IAC (Italian Alpine Club) to thescholar Mario Bezzi, director of the Museum of Natural Sciences of Turin andillustrious member of the IAC section Turin.
In 1991 the current managers, already owners of thenew building adjacent to the old refuge, bought the Mario Bezzi refuge from theIAC and began the expansion and adaptation works, with the objective of unifyingthe new and old buildings and adapting them to the required reception standards.
By elevating the roof, 10 rooms were created on thefirst floor, and another 10 on the new floor under the roof, for an addition of50beds, creating a total of 82 places available. On the ground floor a largedining room was created, along with a reception/bar, warehouses/depots and awinter room that stays open even in snow. On the ground floor, a common roomand an education room were created for the mountaineering courses held in therefuge. The existing exposed stone was retained for the external façade, whilecopper sheet was used for the roof.
